Best Voting system. In the 2014 election, the B.J.P win the election with 31% of the vote means that 69% of people in the country do not want that B.J.P to make their government so what logic in this. On the other hand in the presidential election of the U.S Hillary Clinton get 3 million more votes than Donald Trump but Donald Trump become the President of the U.S so what democracy is in this if the majority of people vote in against a candidate and he becomes a leader of a country. So friends today we understand how the voting system work in different democracy in the world and after read this article you think that which is the best voting system in the world so let's start.

the best voting system?

To understand the Indian voting system we take an example if 4 people stand in the election Mr A, Mr B, Mr C and Mr D so if Mr A get 35%, Mr B gets 39%, Mr C get 16% and Mr D get 15% of the vote. So in our country, the candidate which gets the maximum number of the vote wins the election so in this example Mr B gets the maximum number of the vote so he wins the election. This type of voting system is called the first-past-the-post voting system. This first past the fourth voting system used in a different type of 58 democratic countries in the world. But some clearly seen disadvantage is in this voting system if we saw in our example that the voters of Mr D hate Mr A and they did not want that Mr A wins so they vote to Mr B because media always talk about Mr A and Mr B and everyone knows that one of them win the election. So which type of democracy is this. So in this Mr D only working as the vote cutter for Mr A.

Different type of ideologies

So to counter these disadvantages a new voting system comes an instant cut-off voting system. In this voting system, people do not select a single candidate they arrange all the candidate according to their preference. In this voting system, every Candidate should get 50% of the vote if in first preference no one gets the 50% vote so the candidate which gets the less number of the vote get eliminated and the vote of the eliminated candidate transferred to the rest of the candidate. In this voting system, many of the disadvantages of the first past the post voting system get eliminated. This voting system is used in many countries of the world and in India the presidential elections are also done by this voting system. In different countries this was done in different manner example in Sri Lanka you can select only 3 candidates as first, second and third preference this is called contingent voting. Interestingly Oscar winner also selected by the instant cut-off voting system.

A different way of voting

In the above example, many people say that if Mr D gets 15% of votes so 15% of seats are going to the party of Mr D this type of voting system is called proportional representation. More than 80 democratic countries in the world use this voting system. Belgium is the first country in the world who use this system in the general election of the 1900s. This type of voting system has different ways to implementation example some countries like Israel and Netherland all the country is one constituency the country is not divided into too many constituency and peoples give the vote to their favourite party then all parties get seats according to their voting per cent this is called
pure-proportional representation. But this is not right to say that proportional representation does not have any disadvantages people who criticize proportional representation say that because of this system connection break between the local leader. Peoples also say that in this voting system it is difficult for a party to get majority seats which result in the formation of the coalition government and many people say that coalition government are not stable. Maybe this is the reason behind that in Germany a mixture of first past the post voting system and proportional representation are used for election by which the advantages of both systems have become balance.

voter

Many presidential countries in the world like France and South American countries use a different kind of voting system called the Two rounds voting system. In this voting system, there are two round of voting if in the first round no one gets majority so a second round takes place in which the only top two parties are seen. The disadvantages of this voting system are the same as the first past the post voting system. In this voting system, small parties do not get a chance to become big party. There is much more such voting system in the world example in Greece there is the rule that the party that gets a majority get 50 more sets in parliament only because they have the majority.

so write in a comment that which is the best voting system according to you...
